Where to Sell a Non-Running or Project BMW in New England

Updated: Sep 28

If you have an older BMW that no longer runs, an unfinished restoration, or a car that has become more project than you can reasonably take on, you may be wondering where to sell it. Traditional used-car buyers often want a complete, road-ready vehicle. Scrap yards may value the car only by weight. Enthusiast buyers look at it differently.
BMW Buyers of New England is based in Willimantic, Connecticut and focuses on older BMWs, especially E30-era cars. We consider complete cars, non-running cars, damaged vehicles, stalled projects, incomplete cars, and part-out candidates throughout Connecticut and across New England.
WHY A NON-RUNNING BMW CAN STILL HAVE VALUE
A BMW does not need to run and drive to be worth a conversation. An older car may still have a usable engine, transmission, differential, body panels, glass, trim, interior pieces, electrical components, suspension parts, wheels, or difficult-to-find hardware. A rusty shell may contain the exact factory parts another owner needs to complete a restoration.
The complete picture matters. Model, year, drivetrain, body style, condition, rust, title status, missing parts, location, and current demand all affect whether a car is a good fit. A clean, complete project is different from a heavily stripped shell, but both are worth describing honestly.
THE TYPES OF BMWS WE CONSIDER
Our main focus is older BMWs, including E30 coupes, sedans, convertibles, and iX models, along with other vintage BMW platforms. We regularly consider cars that are running or not running, damaged or rusty, unfinished restorations, long-term storage cars, vehicles with missing parts, mechanical-failure cars, and complete part-out candidates.
Not every vehicle will result in an offer. We review each BMW based on condition, completeness, location, usable parts, and current demand. Clear information helps us evaluate it faster and avoids wasted time for everyone.
SELLING A PROJECT BMW IN CONNECTICUT AND NEW ENGLAND

We are located in Willimantic, Connecticut, and hear from sellers throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and beyond. Complete-car pickup outside the immediate area is considered case by case based on the vehicle, distance, access, and schedule. Do not assume pickup is guaranteed until the details are confirmed.
When you contact us, start with your city and state rather than an exact street address. That is enough for an initial review and helps determine whether the distance and logistics make sense.
WHAT TO SEND FOR A FASTER REVIEW
The best seller inquiries include the year and exact BMW model, body style, city and state, title status, whether the engine runs, whether the car drives and stops, known mechanical issues, rust or collision damage, missing parts, asking price or price range, and several clear photos.
Useful photos include all four exterior corners, both sides, the interior, engine bay, trunk, wheels, underside or common rust areas, VIN label, and close-ups of damage or missing components. Honest photos are more helpful than carefully cropped images. If the car is difficult to access, tell us before pickup discussions begin.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
First, submit the vehicle information and photos through our Sell Your BMW form. We review the model, condition, location, parts value, and current inventory needs. If the car appears to be a fit, we follow up to discuss questions, price, access, and possible pickup arrangements.
Submitting the form does not guarantee an offer. It does give us the information needed to make a practical decision without asking you to repeat the same details through several messages.
WHY SELL TO A BMW ENTHUSIAST BUYER
A specialist understands that an older BMW can have value beyond whether it passes inspection today. Factory trim, early-model hardware, original body panels, interior colors, driveline combinations, and small electrical pieces can all matter to other owners. When a car is no longer a realistic restoration, carefully reusing its good components can help keep many other BMWs on the road.
